Grinch Christmas Cinnamon Rolls

Kids will love these fun Grinch cinnamon rolls come Christmas morning. All it takes is some green frosting and sprinkles to turn classic cinnamon rolls into a fun grinch recipe.

These ones are semi-homemade and use my delicious raspberry cinnamon roll recipe as the base. Use it or your favorite recipe to create these perfect Christmas morning cinnamon rolls.

Grinch cinnamon rolls

I don’t know anyone who didn’t grow up knowing and loving Dr. Seuss. I went to college at the University of California, San Diego. Its library is named for Theodor Geisel, the real name of the author Dr. Seuss.

Every year they would celebrate his birthday with a big party!

At Christmas time watching “How the Grinch stole Christmas” was, of course, a tradition. I also love the newer version with Jim Carrey though the original cartoon will always be my favorite.

Everyone knows that the Grinch’s heart is “two sizes too small” so these cinnamon rolls are covered in Grinchy green frosting and topped with tiny heart sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • 1 pan of warm cinnamon rolls
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • green food coloring
  • heart sprinkles

How to make Grinch Cinnamon Rolls

1 – Mix together all the ingredients (minus the cinnamon rolls of course) to create a cream cheese frosting

2 – Drizzle the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls. I put mine in a ziplock bag and clipped the corner to create a piping bag then spread it with a knife.

grinch treats

I hope you and your kids enjoy making and eating these fun grinch treats.

If you want to make these even easier, you can just make a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, or your favorite brand. Then add food coloring to the frosting provided and go from there.

I haven’t done it this way but you should be able to color the frosting that is provided. Just pour it into a bowl first to make it easier to mix.
