This recipe is made with ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard! Just make sure you have a nice bundt pan and some red and green gel food coloring before you get started. Make sure to grease the pan really well so that your cake doesn’t stick when it’s time to take it out.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • red & green gel food coloring

How to make a tie-dye cake

The first step is making your base cake mix.

Preheat your oven to 350. Combine your flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.

Cream your butter then add in your sugar. Next, add in the vanilla, eggs, and milk and mix until combined.

Add the flour until parts and blend well without over mixing.

Now comes the fun part, adding the colors! To start you’ll want to divide the batter into three even parts.

Add red gel food coloring to one, green gel food coloring to another, and leave the third part plain white. (Tip: Make the red and green darker than you think it needs to be as it will lighten upon baking.)

Spray your bundt pan with cooking spray or use butter and flour to coat the pan. Create the tye-dye effect by spooning the batter into the pan alternating colors.
