Easy homemade chicken taquitos
Tired of heating up frozen taquitos in your air fryer? This easy chicken taquito recipe will cook up in an air fryer in about 10 minutes.
Some would instead call this an easy chicken flautas recipe as they are made with flour tortillas.

This recipe is delicious but also super easy and quick to make, all of my favorite things!
If you have your chicken ready ahead of time you can have these on the table in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup shredded, cooked chicken
- ½ (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup salsa verde
- 1 (8.2 ounce) packages fajita size flour tortillas
- ½ cup mexican cheese
- Optional toppings: guacamole, sour cream, extra cheese & salsa
You can feel free to use rotisserie chicken for the meat which will make this meal come together even faster. Many stores even sell a pack of pre-shredded rotisserie chicken!
This recipe will make a batch of 8 taquitos so you may need to double it if you’re serving a larger group.
How to make your chicken taquitos
1 – In a medium bowl mix together the chicken, cream cheese, salsa, and cheese.
2 – Add about 2 tablespoons of the mixture to the center of each tortilla before rolling them up and placing them seam side down in the basket that comes with your air fryer.
I use a Cuisinart TOA-60 for all of my air fryer recipes. You can check out my review if you want to know more about this model.
3 – Place the tray in your air fryer and air fry the taquitos at 375 for 8-10 minutes turning them once.
They just need to be lightly browned as the chicken is already fully cooked.
Tip: If you find the outside getting too done you can cook it using the convection bake function for half the time if your machine has that option.
4 – Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy your chicken taquitos…or chicken flautas.
Can I make a larger batch?
This recipe makes about 8 large taquitos. It’s enough for us since our daughters are small.
If you need to make a second batch you may want to turn your oven on low and place the cooked taquitos in there on a baking sheet to keep them warm while you air fry the second batch.
What should you serve with this recipe?
I love to serve these with spanish rice, refried beans for my husband, and some sliced avocado.
Sometimes we even pick up the sides at a local Mexican restaurant to save time while not spending quite so much money on eating out.
