Ingredients

  • 2 tubes of Crescent Roll Sheet Dough
  • 2 cups diced ham steak (dice into small pieces)
  • 1.5 cups of your favorite shredded cheese (I like to use sharp cheddar)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

For this recipe you will want crescent roll sheet dough, not the kind that is already cut into triangles for rolling into crescent rolls.

This sheet dough is also perfect for making easy at home cinnamon rolls like these raspberry ones!

In a pinch you can use the regular crescent roll dough but you’ll end up with odd creases across your final product and stuff may leak out depending on your closed those creases are.

You should gently pinch the creases to ensure they stay as closed as possible.

Can I use other kinds of ham?

Of course! I like to dice up a ham steak. But, it’s also a great way to use up leftover ham if you’ve recently made one.

You can also use deli ham in a pinch, just slice it up or go super simple and just fold a piece over so it fits and cover it with the shredded cheese.

How to Make Ham & Cheese Pockets (in an air fryer)

1 – Cut a piece of parchment paper the size of your air fryer basket and place inside for later.

2 – Lightly flour a baking sheet or cutting board to prevent sticking and unroll one sheet of crescent roll dough.

Cut the sheet into 4 even strips (make the cuts on the long side of the dough).

3 – In a bowl mix together your diced ham and cheese.

Scoop about 1/4 cup of the mix onto one side of each strip of dough.

3 – Fold the dough over then use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure everything is sealed inside.

4 – Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees.

Transfer the ham & cheese pockets to the air fryer basket leaving a bit of space between them.

5 – Use a basting brush to brush the top of each pocket with a small amount of melted butter or canola oil.

If you don’t have a basting brush you can use your fingers.

6 – Cook for 7-9 minutes until golden. (Flip halfway through so that both sides get nicely browned.)

Allow to cool a bit and enjoy with your favorite vegetable for a complete meal.

7 – Repeat with the second roll of dough so you have more for later!

Storing Leftovers

You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. I put mine in a ziploc bag. They’ll keep for a few days in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer.

Before reheating they much be thawed out or they will get tough. You can defrost them in the fridge and then warm them in the microwave or air fryer. They warm in the microwave in less than a minute.

You can use them as part of your meal prep plan and grab them on the go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
